I was born in Dublin where I work in the film and television industry as a producer/director. During the earlier part of my career I worked in an advertising agency where I developed a flair for graphic design and took up watercolour painting as a pastime.

From a practical point of view I usually paint from photographic references. These serve to jog my memory of a particular scene which I then interpret, featuring certain elements and ignoring minute details in order to capture the essence of the scene I'm painting.

Many of my paintings now feature hot air balloons as ballooning has been a pastime since I had my first balloon flight in 1977. I have a commercial balloon pilots licence and fly as often as weather allows.

Balloons can only be operated in fair weather when light winds prevail. This is usually in early morning or late evening when wonderful skyscapes are there to be captured by the enthusiastic painter or photographer.

Over the years I have painted many subjects and have undertaken special commissions. As you browse through the galleries on my web site I hope you enjoy what I have captured in my paintings.
